In a recent announcement, Ferris State University named Brooks Miller as the new men’s basketball coach.
The university conducted a national search following the 2025-2026 season for the next head skipper.
"I am thrilled to bring Coach Miller to Ferris State and believe he is the right person at this time to lead our men's basketball program," said FSU Athletics Director Steve Brockelbank. "Brooks has a tremendous resume and been highly-successful as a head coach. His experience at nearly every level of college basketball along with his connections and familiarity with our league and program will be extremely beneficial."
Miller joins the Bulldogs after one year as the Associate Head Coach with Central Michigan University, led by former 14-year Bulldog head coach Andy Bronkema. Prior to his time in Mount Pleasant, Miller was the head coach and assistant athletic director at DIII-power Trine University. He spent 14 years with the Thunder, compiled a 247-121 overall record, and won the program’s first-ever DIII National Championship in 2024.
"I'm extremely grateful to Dr. Bill Pink, Steve Brockelbank and the hiring committee for choosing me to be the next head basketball coach at Ferris State University," said Miller. "I am honored to be a part of the championship tradition that began many years ago under Coach Jim Wink and was continued by two of my closest colleagues and mentors in Bill Sall and Andy Bronkema. My family and I couldn't be happier to be joining the Big Rapids community and representing Ferris State."
The Bulldogs were led last year by interim head coach Alex Fodness, who initially joined the Bulldog staff as an assistant under then Bobby Pietrack. Following Pietrack’s resignation, which was linked to personal health issues and allegations from his leave from Fort Lewis College, Fodness was selected to lead the program through the season. The team finished 10-18 last season and placed 8th in the GLIAC.
Miller will become the 15th head coach in Ferris State men’s basketball history. His opening press conference is slated for Wednesday, Apr. 15, at 2 p.m. in the Ewingleben Sports Complex.
